Namaste! As world is opening up for travel, come 23 September 2022 and Bhutan will reopen its borders to the tourists without quarantine, after remaining shut for outsiders for more than two years due to the pandemic.

Simple living and high thinking is the mantra for the Bhutanese people. It is a nation that assigns statistical peg to its happiness (Gross National Happiness) and is delightfully cut off from Western influences. Also known as the ‘Last Shangri-La’, it is a small and predominantly Buddhist nation, tucked between India and China.

Stunning landscapes with 72% forested land, rich culture, CO2 negative clean and green environment, hilltop monasteries, vibrant local life, festivals and rich bio diversity makes it one of the most coveted destinations for the offbeat traveller.

GETTING TO BHUTAN
1. Currently the visitors can travel to Bhutan by taking flights from India (Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bagdogra), Bangladesh (Dhaka), Nepal (Kathmandu), Singapore (Changi) and Thailand (Bangkok).
2. There are two airlines that fly into Bhutan - namely, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines.
3. Private jets can fly into Bhutan after getting the relevant approvals from the competent authorities.
4. Visitors can also enter via land border with India from Phuentsholing. Currently the other land borders with India like Gelephu & Samdrup Jongkhar are closed for the overseas visitors.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR VISITING BHUTAN
1. As of now, all travellers to Bhutan aged 12 years and over should be vaccinated. Children aged under 12 years are not required to be vaccinated to enter Bhutan.
2. The COVID-19 vaccines should be approved for use by Bhutan Drug Regulatory Authority as per the published list on the website (http://dra.gov.bt)
3. Unvaccinated guests can also enter Bhutan however they will be required to complete five nights quarantine at their own expense. The SDF will be waived during the quarantine period.
4. If a guest tests positive for COVID-19 during their stay in Bhutan, they will be required to quarantine in their hotel until they test negative. The cost for the additional quarantine nights and PCR tests will be borne by the guest. The SDF will be waived during the quarantine period.
